C contemporary design. Rubin, Reuvin (1893-1974), Israeli artist of Romanian birth, one of the pioneers of Israeli art. His style was both open to international influences and uniquely concerned with the people, customs, and especially the landscape of his adopted country. Rubin’s eager acceptance of itsuveau had its deepest influence. A variety of ensuing movements continued to explore integrated design, including De Stijl, a Dutch design movement in the 1920s, and the German Bauhaus school in the 1920s and 1930s.
